You're reading this post, which means you most likely listened to my music and were curious about me. So, without further ado, I give you a semi-biography. Enjoy.
My name is Zach, and I grew up in a rural farmhouse that sat just outside a little alcohol laden college town in the midwest. By the time I got into high school, I was writing music pretty heavily, but I did such a huge variety of things, I had no Idea what to do with my life. So, when i got my pilot's license senior year, I decided to go to school for commercial aviation. After a semester of college, I realized it wasn't right for me, so I decided to drop out and try to make it at a career in music. At that point, my family disowned me, and I ended up living out of my car until I could find a cheap place to live. I moved into a run-down trailer home, and decided to put my high school band back together and try to make it a success. It worked for a little while, then failed miserably, along with my friendships, and my relationship with my girlfriend. I started to get pretty close to shooting myself in the face, and in my exasperation, I decided that I was no good at music, and I may as well just give up and try working in the music business. After a year of working my way back up from the bottom, I decided to go to college again, this time for recording. After a semester, I quit again, realizing that working on other people's music wasn't going to cut it, so i began trying to nail down a record deal with a band I was singing for called Slagel Road. I started sleeping on an air mattress in the attic of a house owned by (my now good friend) Tom, a 57 year old wheelchair-bound psychologist with an abrasive personality, a knack for building houses, and a desire to do therapy on the people who couldn't pay for it. eventually, Slagel Road fell apart due to inter-band conflict and the general state of too much going on at once, and I was back to square one, but i realized that I couldn't really get away from doing music, no matter how impossible it seems to be. After accepting my penniless life, I got an apartment, and spent about eight months just trying to figure out what to do with myself. Eventually, I took up training myself in computer science and started to get comptia certifications to get some kind of decent job so i could support my music. That's when I started backfeed, my current band. I've been struggling with this one for about 4 months in an attempt to get it off the ground, but nothing seems to have worked. Somewhere along the way, I realized that I really didn't care about fame or fortune, but that the thing that really makes me happy is writing music that makes peoples lives a little bit better for a little while. So, I decided to try and figure out what people wanted to hear, and that's why I came to Newgrounds. It's a great place for me to get feedback on what you guys want from a song, after all, the listeners are the only ones who really matter anways. So, here I am, plugging away and trying to write good songs. I'd love to help make the whole scene of music change for the better, but fighting it alone is a losing battle for me, So, If you like it, and you'd like to hear more of a style, let me know, and by all means, pass the word on. Tell peple about it. Because if you want the stuff playing on the radio to be different, you have to support us, the musicians. The power to change the face of music lies in the hands of the listeners, not the artists. The greatest band you can think of would have been nothing without the fans who supported it. And this doesn't just apply to me. It applies to any musician you like. The more you get the word out there for them, the less they have to do.
Anyways, I hope you like the things that I produce, and as always, you're welcome to write me with suggestions, requests, praise, or criticism. I'll be here.
